Suit up and Show up

Visualize your dream, then Suit up and Show up!

Welcome to Manifestation Playhouse

I remember the first time I used visualizing and got an art show in Los Angeles. I was not a starving artist so to say, but I was hungry which I will get to later in the story..

I had been going out looking for places to show my artwork, nothing was turning up. I knew though if I kept looking an open door would appear.

To my knowledge, I had never visualized before, not on purpose at least, but here this one day out of nowhere I visualized getting the show, hanging the show and having a big opening.

This is how my day began, after recently moving to Los Angeles back in early 1992. This one morning I decided I would just act as if I already had a an art show happening and I needed to go deliver the paintings to it. Mind you I had no art show lined up. I loaded up my old Toyota with about twenty little paintings in my car and acted as if my show was real. I headed out into the big city to hang it in my gallery that was awaiting me. I stopped a few little gallery spots and to my surprise none were open. It was disappointing to say the least but I was determined and I was grateful to be living where I had wanted to live for so many years, in sunny Southern California.

By around two o'clock this afternoon, I was starting to get hungry, tired and a bit overwhelmed. As I sat wondering what to do next in my parked car with my stomach growling decided to play a game with myself. I still had my vision clear in my head.

Though I was born in California, I grew up in a small New England town next to a country playhouse where summer-stock theater came to our town every year. So being influenced by those memories of the shows being produced and followed through gave me a thought. Of course being an artist can lead to ones being viewed as theatrical too, but trust me I'm pretty mellow, I can paint pictures but the acting department has never been my strong point.

I closed my eyes and saw myself in a beautiful old theater, looking at a film of my successful art opening, the title of the film "RD Riccoboni Art Exhibit" opened on screen so to say and I saw myself hanging the show, opening night, surrounded by friends, enjoying good food and conversation and taking cash and checks from patrons. I happy ended the little movie in my head with big curtains closing to applause, all in my minds eye of course. When I opened my eyes and let my vision go, it felt pretty good. Then I noticed a cute little café "Carolyn's" just a few doors down from my parked car. I needed food, and it looked as good as any place, so I thought I'd give the café a try.

I walked in the restaurant and the person behind the counter asked: "Are you the artist?

"Yes, I am the artist." I answered. My goodness how did she know that? I thought as my ego swelled. "The artist is here" she hollered to her manager in the backroom of the café.

The manager yelled back, "Oh, it's about time," and then the manager looked out from the back room and said..."He's not the artist!" You see as it turned out the artists lined up for a art show in the cafe never showed and in-fact hadn't shown for a few days. And the café walls were looking bare. "Do you have art with you now?" the manager snapped at me? "Oh yes" I answered, I had my portfolio and art ready to hang and it was in the car.

The manager looked at art and said "These are quite beautiful, let me buy you lunch." As we sat and talked about my little paintings the manager asked me if I had more, which I did. "you know I have the hardest time getting artists, not having them wanting shows, they come in all the time, they just never seem to follow through, If you can follow through you can show your art here for the rest of the year. Let me know when you want to have an opening, get the people here, and I'll take care of the food. I don't want a commission I just want beautiful art on my walls for my customers to enjoy" Wow! I thought my own little gallery complete with opening nights fine food and centrally located in town!' Okay it wasn't a fancy gallery and it wasn't the type of gallery I expected. I didn't have to think about that very long, I said yes right away and the next weekend was enjoying my art opening complete with friends and buyers!

What happened to me that day? I wasn't the artist who was supposed to show up but I got an art show out of it and they did also. Not to mention my hungry belly was fed a delicious lunch. I had a vision, and I made a game out of it, to which I had strong positive and powerful emotions, I was aware and paying attention and I acted upon what was presented to me and I followed through and made a powerful decision, one I am quite sure changed my life for the better. I had suited up, and shown up, for an art exhibit and not even known how or where it would come about it. But deep inside I knew it would. Because I thought I was playing a game, my ego didn't get involved and was quiet through out the process. What many people would call miracles in my art career life began to unfold and continue to every day since that day at the cafe.

I use this technique in my workshops and classes with my friend Connie Stewart. We call it "Manifestation Playhouse" Try it for yourself.

By playing the game Manifestation Playhouse a few minutes daily you can slowly increase your positive vibration to where you want to be and implant in your subconscious mind the feeling of anticipating and achieving your wanted desires. This tool is much more than wishful or just positive thinking because when you play a game your ego steps out of the way and quiets down. The ego can't be bothered with games, it's job much too serious and would rather feed on fear and uncertainty.

Positive changes in your vibration can be accomplished quickly however it is hard to maintain a vibration that is a huge leap from a negative place. By doing this exercise for a few minutes everyday subtle changes in your vibration will naturally begin to form a large overall change down the road. In creating change this way, it will be easily to maintain a good vibration with less effort than trying to accomplish a huge shift. Just as in anything, baby steps and balance, will eventually lead to bigger steps and success.

An example of a big change in vibration would be that if that day after sitting in my car I had walked into an actual gallery or museum that day, and got a big show. Not to say this couldn't happen, but the continued momentum and vibration would have been more difficulty to maintain. Vibrational change is a process that is best not rushed. That little show at the café turned out to be just perfect and led to bigger things down the road
